On February 14, 2023, a contract signing ceremony was held at the office of the Sindh Secondary School Improvement Project (SSEIP) in Karachi. The event was attended by Dr. Hamzo Khan Tagar, the SSEIP Project Director, and representatives from Analytical Solutions Pvt Limited and Suhail Scientific Store, two private companies that have partnered to supply laboratory equipment for secondary schools in Sindh.
The SSEIP project has four main components, including the upgradation of primary schools by building new blocks, capacity building of teachers in five major subjects (English, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry, and Physics), reforming Examination Boards, and equipping 500 secondary schools with science labs. The government plans to establish 100 labs in schools managed by the Sindh Education Foundation, a semi-autonomous body, by the end of February. The remaining 400 schools are to be equipped by the end of March 2023. The supplies will include materials related to teaching the three main subjects: Chemistry, Physics, and Biology.
The successful implementation of this initiative is expected to increase the proportion of secondary schools with science lab in Sindh by 30%. p>
