Sindh Secures USD 10 Million Education Grant in Bilateral Meeting with IFFEd

On the sidelines of the Asian Development Bank’s regional education forum in Manila, Sindh’s Minister for School Education & Literacy, Syed Sardar Ali Shah, held a high-level bilateral meeting with senior leadership of the International Finance Facility for Education (IFFEd)—a Geneva-based foundation established in 2023 by four multilateral development banks and several bilateral donors to expand global financing for education.

The meeting was attended by Karthik Krishnan, Founding CEO of IFFEd, Nina Stochniol, Head of Operations, other senior IFFEd officials, and representatives from ADB. During the discussion, the minister outlined Sindh’s immediate and long-term priorities, including skills development, teacher training, examination reforms, community mobilisation, and back-to-school campaigns.

In response, IFFEd committed to process a proposal of USD 10 million grant to support the School Education & Literacy Department (SE&LD) in accelerating reforms and strengthening education delivery across Sindh.

The initiative marks a significant milestone for the province, reinforcing its partnerships with emerging global financing mechanisms dedicated to transforming education systems.
